The Iwata factory launched a new aerodynamic package during Shakedown. The general philosophy is largely similar to what we have already seen on the track, but the main wing is much flatter and also directs the airflow in front of the air intake, which is not without recall that of the Aprilia RS-GP.

In Jerez, during the end of year tests, Yamaha engineers had already made changes to their aerodynamic package, but at Sepang, these are much more radical.

Here is the fairing tested in Jerez, where the area that evolved is located just above the aerodynamic fins. On the current fairing, in this same area, the fairing has a small concave section where it turns inwards, but on this new version it is much smoother and rounded.

This is the version that was tested at Sepang by test driver Kohta Nozane, during the second day of Shakedown. This main wing being more imposing than the previous one, Yamaha's objective seems to be to seek to maximize the downforce on the front wheel. In addition, by passing under the air intake port, this also maximizes the air flow entering the air box, limiting turbulence in order to promote the power and torque of the Yamaha engine. , which is known to have a deficit compared to its competitors.
