During FP2, Alex Rins' second GSX–RR featured a frame with carbon-covered spars.

Given the shape of these “protective reinforcements”, matching the slightest roughness of the welds, we can assume that they were molded directly on the frame.

The question is therefore whether they only provide simple protection in the event of a fall or provide additional rigidity by being glued to the aluminum.

We remember that such a solution was used by Suter in Moto2 in 2012 before being abandoned.

On the other hand, we know that since 2016 Suzuki has been playing on the rigidity of its engine mounts by alternating carbon and aluminum elements depending on the circuits.

It would therefore hardly be very surprising if they tested such a solution, “just to see”…
