The Moto2 rider, who had a difficult 2018 season, will bounce back in the Supersport World Championship next year, and not in just any team!

Since his arrival in Moto2, the career ofIsaac Viñales has not been a long, quiet river. Changing teams every year and navigating beyond twentieth place in the general classification, he found himself far from the top 10 to which he was accustomed in Moto3. This year was also the most complicated since he was fired from the SAG Team after the Austrian Grand Prix. Luckily, however, he was able to replace Eric Granado, also dismissed, at Forward Racing from Thailand and thus end his season.

After these complicated years and these unconvincing results, the future of Maverick Viñales' cousin seemed somewhat compromised, but he will ultimately bounce back in the best possible way within the Kallio Racing team in the Supersport World Championship. He will thus take the place of the reigning World Champion, Sandro Cortese, who left for Superbike and find himself in the best team in the field.

This golden opportunity will certainly allow the Spanish rider to relaunch himself, he who had shown good things in Moto3, notably winning four podiums. He will team up with Belgian Loris Cresson, who continues for a second consecutive year in the team, and a third driver whose name is not yet known.

Vesa Kallio, team manager: “We have been talking with Isaac about next season for a while now, and we have now signed the contract. I naturally followed his career, especially when he had better results in Moto3. Lately he hasn't had the same success, but it's hard to give reasons when you're not around the team to see what's going on. We were nevertheless interested in him because he has good behavior, and Maverick also promised to help him in this adventure, with training, etc. We are currently carrying out a test in Almeria, Spain and everything went well. The main objective was for Isaac to get used to the bike, without pressure to perform well. »

Isaac Viñales : “I am very happy with the first tests with Kallio Racing. I had a good feeling with the bike and the team is working very well. »
