The Spanish driver once again wrote women's history in the World Championship at the Imola Grand Prix this weekend.

Last September, Ana Carrasco had made Grand Prix history by winning the Supersport 300 race at Portimao. She then became the first woman to win a World Championship race. This excellent result, added to three top 10s, allowed him to finish eighth in the Championship at the end of the season.

Carrasco started his 2018 season very well, with a sixth place at the first Grand Prix in Aragon, before finishing just off the podium at Assen.

Fifth in the Championship arriving at Imola on Friday, she had a perfect weekend and continued to write history. First on Saturday, she took the first pole position of her career, becoming the first woman to do so in the World Championship.

Sunday, after an excellent start, she remained at the head of the race and never left until the checkered flag where she won with a thirteen second lead over her pursuers, her two main adversaries having fallen while they occupied second and third places.

Thanks to this first victory of the year, the second of her career, she now occupies the lead in the general classification, and becomes the first woman to lead a World Championship!
