The Spanish driver has just concluded an excellent season in Supersport 300, although she did not manage to retain her title, and is very studious about her future.

Last year, Ana Carrasco made motorcycling history by becoming the first woman to win a world title in speed. It was on the Magny-Cours circuit on September 30, 2018, but contrary to what one might believe, she did not “not seen much” the race, as she confided to Trademarks.

« It's weird watching her on TV. Some time after winning I watched it and this year I watched it before going to France. I looked at it several times like I do all the time before I got to a round. Once I cross the finish line I stop because it feels weird to see myself on TV. We see it differently from how I experienced it and I prefer to keep my memory. »

This very beautiful memory opened with a new season of Supersport 300 in which she put her title back on the line. At the end of the nine races of the season, she did not manage to keep it (it returned to Manuel Gonzalez, editor's note) but she nevertheless finished on the third step of the podium. But although her choice was risky, the Kawasaki rider accepts it. “I made this decision because I thought I still had results to achieve and things to learn in terms of my driving. And then I joined Provec Kawasaki and I thought that this was a project that was going to become very important in the future.", she explained.

“I still have to learn from the category and it was the right decision because I have reached an important milestone in terms of driving. I am a much safer, faster pilot, I have progressed a lot in duels. It's important to exploit each category 100% and learn as much as possible from each of them before moving on to another. Wanting to go too fast sometimes sets us back and I don't want to go back. Even if it takes me another year to change category, I prefer to wait. »

Studious and patient, Carrasco nonetheless forgets her ultimate goal, which she hopes to achieve, at her own pace, within a few years: “My dream is to finish my career in Superbike or MotoGP. I am 22 years old and still have a lot of time ahead of me. I am aware that what I want is far away and that I still have a lot to learn. I have to improve a lot. But in four or five years I see myself racing in one of these categories. »
