The State aims to strengthen the current system with the installation of new urban radars, discriminating radars or even turret radars, all much more sophisticated and efficient, by the end of 2021, these are not less than 600 new devices which will be installed on French roadsides.

In order to improve road safety, the French government installs new radars every year. At the end of December 2021, French roads will have a total of 4700 devices, or 600 more than in 2019. In addition, these new, more efficient radars will replace certain equipment already in place.

Thus, the hexagon will have 500 urban radars, capable of detecting certain types of specific offenses committed within an urban area such as failure to respect safety distances, failure to respect a pedestrian crossing or a red light (in addition to classic offenses such as speeding).

There will also be 825 turret radars: higher than other radars, they can control 126 vehicles at the same time over a distance of 100 meters. But also 400 discriminating radars, that is to say radars capable of only flashing trucks for example, and this, on several lanes simultaneously.

Certain even more sophisticated radar models are now capable of checking whether a vehicle is properly insured. Nothing and no offense seems to be able to escape these new intelligent devices which can now check whether a vehicle is in compliance.
