The RS660 having been installed, its version with a straight handlebar called Tuono was expected next. Aprilia doesn't make you wait long, thus declining the same strategy as that applied with the 1100 versions. And that's so much the better!

The sportswoman RS660 is just getting its bearings when its sister in roadster version is already taking up residence alongside it. So here is the Thunder 660 which is a semi-faired version of the sports car, like its big sister Tuono 1100 V4 which is inspired by the sporty RSV4. The opus promises a lot of pleasure and all the more so since it will be accessible at a price slightly lower than that of the RS660.

Based on the Aprilia RS660, the roadster has the same chassis and engine section, although the more upright riding position, semi-fairing and a few other details make it a more versatile motorcycle. With 183 kilos and 95 hp, it is a little lighter and less powerful than the RS, but its flat handlebars will give it devilish handling on winding sections, even better than the RS.

The Tuono 660 has everything a great

Its twin-cylinder engine -4T, LC, 8V, DOHC, IE- is the same but with 5 HP less than the RS, with five power modes. There is Aprilia Traction Control, AWC Aprilia Wheelie Control, ACC Aprilia Cruise Control, AQS Aprilia Quick Shift, Aprilia engine braking, IMU, cornering ABS, fully LED lighting and instrumentation with color TFT screen with Bluetooth. Extensive equipment at this level of the range.

The chassis is therefore the same as the RS, with an aluminum perimeter chassis with engine support, double wishbone swingarm, 17-inch wheels, inverted fork Kayaba 43 mm, rear monoshock without connecting rods and double 320 mm front brake disc, with calipers Brembo radials.

The aesthetics are halfway between the RS660 and the Thunder 1100 V4, with its front face with three elongated optics and a very tight semi-fairing anchored to the chassis, like a dome. No availability or pricing has yet been communicated. But concerning the latter, in reference to that of the RS, we can bet for an entry below 10.000 euros…
