The brand new Profile-V helmet strengthens the ranks of the Sport-Touring range by succeeding the Axces dynasty. The Profile-V opens a new chapter by broadening the target to win back users who are customers of the brand in the past, but also by attracting new ones. For this, this year's new Arai puts forward serious arguments: a high level of comfort, its great versatility, quality of assembly, quality of materials, while maintaining a low price.
R75 hull, guarantee of safety according to Arai. It benefits from the major characteristics of the latest ARAI, among them: its R75 shape: rounder, more robust, and obstacle-free, its shape promotes safety in the event of a fall. The “ricochet” principle so dear to ARAI is thus optimized and allows maximum absorption. In fact, the oval shape allows the helmet to rotate at the same time as the pilot's body as it falls, without the obstacle of additional equipment on the shell and likely to generate additional injuries.
Easy donning, increased comfort. In order to guarantee maximum comfort, the fundamental objective during its development, the Arai teams have significantly modified the perimeter base of the shell. On this brand new shell, the chin bar area has been widened with an increase of 5mm towards the front and on each side, which has the immediate effect of making the helmet "easy to put on and take off" while maintaining a comfortable fit. The Profile-V shell inaugurates a new matrix according to the PB-e-cLc process which uses latest generation “Melange-Z” resins which increase the adhesion of the materials and form a thinner and lighter shell. The result is a lighter and more compact helmet. The multi-density EPS liner is made in a single box to absorb and dissipate residual energy following an impact, without increasing its volume. The EPS part combines up to 4 different densities depending on the areas. Considering that the frontal area is a critical point of impact, Arai reinforces the helmet with a “Super Fiber” peripheral belt which has the characteristic of being 30% stronger than normal fiberglass. It helps maintain the integrity of the hull in the frontal area.
VAS plates for the screen, for easy dismantling. Equipped with the new VAS (variable axis system) pivot plates, which free up space on the outer shell, particularly on the largest circumference of the helmet. Technically, they are lowered and moved back for the benefit of safety. The plate covers have an opening mechanism with a retaining cable. Replacing the screen is easy and does not require tools.
The Profile-V is equipped with a new wide screen favoring the field of vision on the extremities. This gain was made possible thanks to the new VAS plates positioned a little further back (set back and lowered). To this screen it is possible to add a Max Vison type Pinlock anti-fog screen. A locking system identical to that fitted to the RX-7V allows the screen to be completely blocked in the closed position for perfect waterproofing.
The Profile-V ventilation system has five air inlets and six outlets. The front air inlets allow air to rush more quickly into the channels of the cap in order to be distributed around the head. Hot air is extracted at the rear spoiler, the bottom of the shell and at the back of the neckband. The air intake on the chin guard is also adjustable in open, intermediate or closed position, ensuring air renewal as needed.
A new benchmark in comfort. The Profile-V is an ARAI, comfort remains one of the fundamental arguments! In addition to the shape of the shell – R75 – which is particularly ergonomic, the comfort of the interior foams is once again one of the strong points of the Profile-V. This feeling of support provided by multiple density foams, combined with a very soft and high quality covering. Other equipment present on the Profile-V cheek pads: a semi-removable interior and its FCS facial contouring system. Developed at the time for the brand's Formula 1 helmets, this device has been fitted to motorcycle helmets since 2016 and actively contributes to support on the one hand, without affecting comfort, and to better soundproofing on the other. Technically the bottom of the foams has a rigid tab that pushes the foam back onto the lower face and jawline.
This model is compatible with Arai's PSS which has the function of external sun visor and does not reduce the protection capacity of the helmet. The adjustable Pro Shade system can block the reflections of the sun but also those of night lighting and be used as a cap in the raised position. This device completes the list of equipment and contributes a little more to the notion of comfort. A fundamental fact for intensive and demanding users and which characterizes the ARAI brand.
