Initially reserved for high-end motorcycles, electronic speed regulators have now become popular on a large number of machines, in particular thanks to the widespread use of electronic throttle management, or ride by wire. But not all of them can necessarily receive one among the manufacturer's options, in particular many motorcycles still use a cable accelerator which requires a specific device to maintain a target speed. Philippe Beraka, a Girondin inventor, developed his universal mechanical speed regulator, the BeraCruise Skate Lock.

Most often, cruise control consists of a mechanical throttle lock, which can seem rather unsettling if faced with an emergency situation. They are quite difficult to use in a driving situation since they require tightening a ring while holding the handle. That being said, French inventor named Philippe Beraka has come up with an ingenious mechanical cruise control gadget called BeraCruise Skate Lock.

The Skate Lock is not strictly speaking a cruise control, because it is not automatic, allowing more torque to be provided on slopes, for example, to maintain speed. It is a comfort system which allows the throttle grip to be held in a given position, and which is not electronically connected to the engine control. Therefore, it does not deactivate when the brakes or clutch are used, but unlike more archaic systems, it does not block the handle, since it can be adjusted at any time. This is why the system is not approved and the manufacturer specifies that the Skate Lock should only be used if the risk of braking is low. The presentation is done!

What makes the BeraCruise system so special is the technology that has been integrated into it. Instead of using a mechanical locking mechanism, the Skate Lock works with 20 magnets that sit in the ring and lock the throttle grip in one position when activated. Additionally, the throttle grip can be readjusted in this state with increased force. The lock is quickly deactivated by pressing the switch.

Le BeraCruise Skate Lock is compatible with standard 22 and 25 mm diameter handlebars. It comes with a set of rubber handles, the right element of which is shortened so as not to have to move the commodo. It is also possible, depending on the configuration of the motorcycle, to shift the commodo a few centimeters to keep its original handles, especially if they are heated. All for a reasonable price of €109.
