We made it this time ! BMW's M1000RR, which aims to be even meaner than the S of the same pedigree, has arrived. No more blurred images. Here it is in clear and color with even some figures that are tempting...

BMW presents the first M motorcycle model in the company's history, the M1000RR. The basis of the M1000RR is the current S1000RR, which has been refined in certain areas. Subtle changes have been made to the engine which are expected to have a major impact on the WSBK regulations. The peak power of the M1000RR would be 212 ch. That's 5 HP more than the S1000RR. The potential of this version is much higher, as the engine's innards should allow for much more adjustment than the current homologation model.

The new BMW M1000RR has Mahle forged pistons, increased compression, the connecting rods are from Pankl, the rocker arms have been made lighter and the valves are made of titanium and have also been made lighter.

As with the S1000RR, the Shiftcam system is present. But the system has been modified for racing. With the new innards, the maximum speed could be increased by 500 revolutions per minute, which is a huge advantage for WSBK.

A boon for WSBK

The most obvious change is the news fins on the side of the fairing. We're talking about 16,3 kilograms of downforce at 300 km/h. With this, BMW follows the example of Ducati, but does not achieve efficiency values as high as the Italians with the Panigale V4R.

The serial version of the new M1000RR is due to receive minor chassis updates in addition to engine and fin changes. The steering head angle has been readjusted, but this has no effect on the Superbike World Championship, as teams have leeway for their own tuning in this area.

BMW will not reach the price limit of 40 000 euros for the M1000RR. The M version will be significantly more expensive than the S1000RR, but it should be around 33 000 euros. Thus, the Ducati Panigale V4R remains the most expensive WSBK base machine with a price of 39 900 euros. The normal S1000RR is currently available from 18 423,53 euros…
