The BMW S1000RR does not change its name but shows itself with various innovations which affected the entire project: Improvements to the engine and chassis, aerodynamic optimization with new fins and a redesigned rear section, not to mention developments in dynamic electronic controls .

The first development is the most obvious to notice: these fins at the front. At BMW, form is important, but it never precedes function, and that's certainly the case here. Depending on speed, these fins create a maximum downforce of 10 kg at the front, further contributing to wheelie mitigation when accelerating. This, in turn, means that the traction control doesn't have to work as hard and drivers should be able to maintain a fast, more consistent pace on the track.

Speaking of BMW's Dynamic Traction Control, it now offers a new Slide Control function that uses a steering angle sensor. Riders can choose between two preset drift angles to determine how the motorcycle reacts when accelerating out of corners. There is also a new Brake Slide Assist function in BMW's ABS Pro system on this motorcycle.

For 2023, the BMW S 1000 RR receives a revised inline four-cylinder engine, which traces its roots to the first version in 2009, the last generational leap dates back to 2019 with then a final update in the 2021 model. 999 cc cylinders sees its maximum power increase by 3 horsepower, reaching 3 hp at 210 rpm (instead of 13 hp at 750 rpm previously). The maximum torque, on the other hand, is unchanged, with 207 Nm at 13 rpm, but the maximum rotation speed increases, which now reaches the cut-off at 500 rpm. As a result, the secondary gear ratio was shortened slightly.

Other updates include revisions to the chassis, with more flexibility in BMW's "Flex Frame" design, as well as changes to the chassis geometry. The cylinder head receives a new intake port geometry, modeled on the M RR engine. While the geometry comes from the M mill, the intake ports here are cast rather than milled. The RR also benefits from an improved airbox design, with variable intake horns.

A high screen is now standard, as is a lightweight M battery, a shorter license plate bracket and a redesigned rear section for a clean but aggressive look. Those who take their S 1000 RR to the track will be happy to know that the rear wheel is now easier to remove than ever, thanks to a reworked axle bushing carrier, as well as new brake pads and rear plates. Chamfered brake anchor.

Available colors for the 1000 BMW S 2023 RR include: Blackstorm Metallic, Style Passion in Racing Red Non-Metallic and Light White Non-Metallic/BMW M tricolor.
