The leader in motorcycle and scooter insurance, AMV, is strengthening its commitment to the safety of all drivers of motorized two-wheelers.

2018 was the opportunity for AMV to carry out, during the Paris Motor Show, an awareness campaign on the use of safety equipment, and more particularly the back protector.

En 2019, AMV inaugurated at the Lyon Motor Show, March 14-17, a brand new prevention program, continued in Seclin Motor Show from April 5 to 7.

Appointment is now given to 3 next major motorcycle events to continue this prevention action.

  • 24h of Le Mans from April 19 to 21
  • Sunday Ride Classic (Castellet) May 11 and 12
  • French Motorcycle Grand Prix from May 17 to 19

Prevention is everyone's business, from the most seasoned motorcyclists to B (automobile) license holders who can drive a 125 cc or motor tricycle after 3 hours of training.

To improve safety on the road, AMV will offer on several major events in 2019 prevention and safety sessions on the “Motorsport Simulation” simulator and will deliver a complete pilot assessment to interested two-wheelers. “Motorsport Simulation” is the result of extensive research. Equipped with unique technical expertise, it is equipped with a surprisingly realistic system allowing feel acceleration, braking and inclinations.

With this campaign, AMV wants to raise awareness among users compliance with safety rules, to the good behavior to adopt on the road, to the necessity of wearing quality safety equipment, upon verification safety devices of your vehicle which has to piloting techniques.

For AMV, this approach is in line with its historic commitment to all types of two-wheelers and those who use them, on all terrains.

Franck Allard, founding president of AMV explains his vision:

“Riding two wheels means choosing a certain form of freedom. But it also means exposing yourself to the risk of bodily shock, the consequences of which can be extremely serious. I don't believe that freedom should come at this price. For more than 40 years, at AMV, we have been committed to ensuring that motorcycling can be used on all terrains and in good conditions. Out of habit, certain rules of good conduct tend to get lost. I believe it is our responsibility to regularly remind people of the need to have driving behavior and reflexes that limit risk-taking.”

AMV is committed and innovates in terms of two-wheel prevention

The latest annual report of Road Safety (2017) indicates an increase in road accidents among motorcyclists, with a 9% increase in deaths compared to 2016. During an accident, drivers are subject to very specific injuries linked to the configuration of their vehicle without bodywork or seat belts where the body absorbs 100% of the shock.

Based on this observation, AMV has chosen to offer users of motorized two-wheelers prevention and safety sessions on the simulator “Motorsport Simulation”, during certain major events.  Created by Alex Crivillé, 500cc world speed champion in 1999, the “Motorsport Simulation” is the official simulator for Moto GP drivers. Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Márquez, among others, have perfected their training on this machine.

At these events, visitors to the AMV stand will be able to benefit an assessment session of their driving with a qualified instructor, a motorcycle GP professional, on the “Motorsport Simulation” simulator.

Together, they will address compliance with safety rules, good behavior on the road, equipment adapted to motorcycle or scooter riding and control of basic safety devices linked to the vehicles themselves; then, they will evaluate their management under the spectrum of prevention.

The session will allow participants to improve certain key points, for safe driving :

  • Posture and posture
  • The supports
  • Mass transfer
  • Breathing management
  • Bending apneas.

Conduct of the “Motorsport Simulation” test

Each participant will be given, at the start of the session, a form to complete in order to allow the instructor to better understand their practice, their level of driving and their expectations. Based on these lessons, the AMV instructor will remind you of various personalized safety points, before the participant takes control of the simulator.

The session, lasting 15 minutes, will take place according to the following points:

  • 2 minute test : handling the simulator while limiting the inclination of the machine to a maximum of 38 degrees
  • 1 minute break to evaluate the first feelings
  • 5 minute test : work on posture, support, mass transfers and reactivity test
  • 5 minute break : debriefing and explanation on good driving behavior and posture
  • 3 minute test and final try : verification of the driver's knowledge and test on breathing management, cornering apnea and gaze.

At the end of the trial session, the instructor will give the participant a personalized assessment specifying its level of security and areas for improvement for its daily driving behavior. To encourage responsible use of motorcycles and scooters, AMV will also offer each participant in the prevention program a level 2 back protector., from the ALLSHOT brand (while stocks last).

Even though more and more bikers are wearing jackets with protective shells, too few are wearing back protectors, which nevertheless provide considerable protection in the event of a fall. Since 1991, back protection has been part of the FFM approved equipment, mandatory for riding on circuits, but it has not yet become standard practice for daily two-wheel riding. However, it is the only protection against spinal injuries. The level 2 dorsal shell protects from the cervical to the coccyx in length and up to the shoulder blades in width.

This Level 2 back shell, in the form of a vest, absorbs shocks and is worn under a jacket or jacket. It does not harden in the cold, covers the lumbar vertebrae and has shape memory.

About AMV

AMV was created in 1974 by Franck Allard, under the name Assurance Moto Verte, in order to provide an insurance solution at the right price corresponding to the reality of the risks of motorcycling. Indeed, faced with existing rigid insurance solutions making no distinction between different uses (e.g. road and off-road motorcycles), AMV has developed personalized guarantees and prices thanks to segmentation integrating multiple criteria. Today, AMV is the leader in specialized 2-wheeler insurance and also offers a complete range of insurance contracts: classic car and motorcycle, car, 4X4, motorhome, jet ski and comprehensive home insurance. The acquisition in 2011 of Légende Assurance allowed AMV to develop a specific offering, perfectly suited to the uses of collectors of vintage motorcycles and cars. The service teams dedicated to AMV Légende take particular care to meet the needs of this demanding clientele. AMV has also been present in Spain since 2003 and in Argentina since 2013. AMV is a subsidiary of the Filhet-Allard group: 6th largest insurance broker in France with more than 1.200 employees. Turnover of €190M, growing by almost 50% in 5 years.
