The German equipment manufacturer Bosch is far from being its first attempt in terms of safety devices: we owe it in particular the ABS now obligatory on all motorcycles, but also the MSC, which is to the motorcycle what the ESP (traction control) is on the car.

Since then, various communications systems have been introduced (eCall, bCall and iCall) and development continues with adaptive cruise control (which takes into account its environment), blind spot warning and collision warning.

But all this seems very classic compared to the latest project from the German equipment manufacturer. This one clearly intends to avoid the fall that all motorcyclists have one day avoided (or not): a patch of gravel or a diesel stain in a turn, and it is the front wheel which slips away, with, at least a lot of heat, at worst a fall, certainly generally at low speed but nevertheless potentially serious.

Bosch therefore designed a system based on a front wheel lateral slip sensor and gas thrusters similar to those that trigger airbags.

Supporting video, it seems to work, at least at low speed.

Can we imagine one day MotoGP races equipped with such a device? Probably not, any sophisticated solution seems to be prohibited by the regulations, like ABS and active suspensions...
