Outdated, obsolete, standard 22.05 is no longer relevant? Motorcycle helmets will soon have to meet a new certification: 22.06.

Even if the European standard 22.05 will be active until 2023, the latter will soon give way to the following version: 22.06. Of course, helmet manufacturers will have 3 years to adapt to the new tests, but the “06” standard should be active this summer.

More restrictive, stricter, introducing impact tests including an angle, taking into account tangential acceleration, resistance of materials to abrasion, field of vision, damage caused to the brain, while pointing at the screens ( solar internals) but also the main one (the degree of smoke will be revised downwards)... the future standard will be safer and will take into account the new peripherals which have become commonplace, such as intercom systems and the opening system for modular helmets. .

Certainly human anatomy has not changed for ages, the speed has remained limited to 130 km/h for a long time but the level of requirements in terms of protection is evolving, the standard follows suit. “Safer” helmets for everyone, an excellent thing but the other side of the coin, the final price clearly risks pointing upwards in order to encompass and smooth the more advanced development of our future headgear...
