The technical inspection file for motorcycles is, for the moment, put on standby by the government. The fault lies with pension reform, which occupies a large part of the executive's agenda. The latter would also not like to add fuel to the fire, with this measure particularly unpopular for those concerned. However, certain logical choices would have been made to make this measure less penalizing, according to the FFMC.

However, according to information from Le Parisien, the project is not buried. This still even concerns the Ministry of Transport. Thus, the date of the first technical inspection should be set five years after the vehicle was first put into circulation, then periodic inspections should be carried out every 3 years. A change of direction, compared to what was planned for August 9, 2021. This can be explained by a broad rejection of this measure. The government itself was opposed to its implementation. This until the Council of State judges the removal of this measure illegal and forces the executive to reinstate it.

A decision to which Clément Beaune, Minister of Transport, complied. However, he continued to assert that these control measures would be “the least penalizing and the most consensual” possible. Since November, meetings and consultations have taken place between environmental associations involved in technical inspections and representatives of motorcyclists.

“We will do it,” he simply admitted regarding the technical inspection of motorcycles and scooters, before trying to play appeasement, aware of the unpopularity of the measure in the biker community: “The biker federations represent several million bikers in our country and I also understand that it is an additional cost. »

However, the text of the law has not yet been published. Indeed, the government is busy with another difficult subject on a social level: pension reform. According to some, the text of the technical inspection of two-wheelers is however already ready. However, the executive would not like to add fuel to the fire by publishing it now.

According to other information distilled by Le Parisien, this control would ultimately concern 50cc two-wheeled vehicles. Initially, this was only to concern those of 125cc and above. Emissions of pollutants and the noise level of machinery would also be studied.
