Associating the V2 with Ducati from the WSBK was once a cultural approach but since the Borgo Panigale brand developed a V4 from the Grands Prix it has become a historical reminder. But the twin-cylinder is still there in the range and the Italian manufacturer has been keen to recall it since Assen, which is hosting a round of a Superbike championship this weekend which has done it so much good. Thus, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the coronation of Troy Bayliss in the MOTUL FIM Championship WorldSBK Superbike, Ducati has revealed a stunning anniversary Panigale V2 at Assen where WorldSBK is located this weekend. It will be recalled that Bayliss won the first of his three titles at Assen and to celebrate, Ducati revealed a very special motorcycle.

Bayliss bagged three titles for Ducati during his career riding three different models and maintains a special bond with the Bologna brand. The Australian was asked for the design and name of the machine: Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary.

The Ducati Panigale V2 in the spotlight

The livery is inspired by the bike he had in 2001 when he won the first of his three titles with the traditional red Ducati which is the basis. The bike features green and white parts for a nod to Italy. The tank also features the autograph of the three-time Champion.

Ducati will celebrate this special anniversary throughout the Netherlands Prosecco DOC Round with a virtual press conference at the Paddock Show. Bayliss will be joined by Paolo ciabatti, sporting director of Ducati Corse, Friday. After the Tissot-Superpole Race on Sunday, the anniversary motorcycle will take to the track with Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). Rinaldi joined the Ducati factory team for 2021 and also wears #21.
