With more power and less weight, the new Monster from Ducati arrives with the arguments needed to console fans of the abandoned tubular steel frame. The new generation also maintains an aesthetic that aims to provide identity. The market will say if the target is reached. In any case, Ducati has given its latest Monster the means for its success. Here is the detailed review and even a video…

There may no longer be the tubular steel frame, but the new Ducati Monster 2021 retains the essence of the pioneer that hit the market in 1993: a sporty and versatile engine for road use, combined with a chassis that derives directly from the Superbike.

The sporting genes, the DNA of a strong character are therefore always in the blood of the Italian roadster. Starting with the Testastretta 11º engine, a 90º V-twin with desmodromic distribution, which offers a power of 111 ch, two more than its predecessor. This slight increase in power comes from the increase in displacement, from 821 cm3 to 937 cm3, of an engine that complies with regulations. Euro 5. Torque also increases, a change that becomes noticeable especially at low revs. We now find 93 Nm at 6 rpm. New Monster will also be available in a 35 kW version for the A2 license.

Another highlight is that the weight of all components has been reduced to make the new Ducati Monster lighter than its predecessor. The aluminum chassis, inspired by that of the Ducati Panigale V4 and which marks the end of the multitubular is lighter and makes it possible to reduce the weight of the whole, which is only 166 kg dry. It is, neither more nor less, a reduction of 18 kg compared to the previous one Monster. All this comes from the meticulous work of Borgo Panigale engineers to lighten the whole and reduce the weight of the chassis, swingarm and wheels.

In addition to being lightweight, the Monster 2021 is also more compact. It has a saddle of 820 mm in height closer to the handlebars, with the possibility of mounting a lower saddle of only 800 mm. The suspension lowering kit would allow lowering to 775 mm seat height. Also worth noting is the increase in rotation angle by 7° compared to the previous model.

The electronics package is also more complete. As standard, traction control, anti-wheeling, adjustable ABS, launch control and a rapid upshift and downshift system. In addition, the “anti-rebound” clutch is much smoother and, according to data provided by the Borgo Panigale brand, requires approximately 20% less effort to operate.

The Ducati Monster keeps its line

The new Monster offers three driving modes: Sport, Touring and Urban, offering options for all tastes. All controls can be configured via the controls located on the handlebars and a TFT screen which also inherits the Panigale V4. As an option, the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) allows you to connect your smartphone to the motorcycle via the Bluetooth module and manage certain functions using the buttons on the handlebars.

As for the brakes we find a system Brembo top of the range, with a double radial disc at the front, while at the rear a 245 mm disc is mounted. The tires of the new Monster are Pirelli Diablo Rosso III.

In addition to the numerous standard components, Ducati offers an accessory kit to make your Monster 2021 even more exclusive. Among them, an approved Termignoni silencer. The Monster will be sold in three colors: Ducati Red with black wheels, Aviator Grey with red wheels and " Dark Stealth » matte black with black wheels. There will be different sticker kits to personalize it even more…

The 2021 Ducati Monster will arrive in two versions: the standard and Ducati Monster Plus, which stands out for the fact that it incorporates a more aerodynamic package and protection for the passenger seat as standard equipment.

We are now waiting for the prices knowing that on the other side of the Atlantic, the base price in dollars would give access to the range from a little over 9 euros. We can estimate that Ducati has done a good job in bringing its Monster into a new era while keeping the distinctive features of the model. Thus, by taking the shapes of the magnificent reservoir designed by Galluzzi and the circular headlight, which made the motorcycle famous throughout the world…
