The new Multistrada V4 finds itself at the center of a major recall campaign. The owners of the affected models have been contacted, as the problem is serious and is found with the valves. Only one solution to solve it: replace the motor.

Available at Ducati dealerships for several months, the new Multistrada V4 is currently the subject of its first recall campaign. According to the press release from the Bologna plant, the problem is attributable to the valve guides of the V4 Granturismo engine which, due to a defect, could lead to power losses and, much more serious, cylinder head ruptures.

The problem stems from one of the two parts suppliers that manufacture the valve guides for Ducati, and despite quality checks carried out before the Multistrada V4 went into production, the Bologna factory discovered problems with longevity pieces.

This malfunction can only be resolved by complete replacement of the engine with units produced without the potentially defective component.

A problem that Ducati is trying to alleviate by offering two years of routine maintenance, including standard maintenance and software updates, the provision of courtesy motorcycles for the duration of the intervention, or even vouchers for Ducati accessories or clothing. The replacement operation will not cost the customer anything but will obviously be entirely at Ducati's expense.

The recall concerns at least 100 motorcycles which have already left the Bolognese factories. Dealers should have notified all customers in possession of a potentially defective model.

Ducati dealers must also stop the sale of all Multistrada V4 models with valve guides from the affected parts supplier, until these engines can also be replaced via the recall campaign. Priority is of course given to motorcycles already sold and in the customer's possession.
