In the latest installment of its “Ducati World Premiere” series, the Bologna factory presents the renewed Panigale V4 SP2, an extreme version of the already superlative Italian superbike, the Panigale V4 2022. It is a very special motorcycle, dedicated to those who want to beat many times on a circuit, because this V4 SP2 is an ultimate evolution that takes many elements from its competition sisters. Carbon rims, dry clutch, matte black Winter Test livery for a numbered series like the 851 and 916. In short, an even more exclusive Panigale!

 

 

Thus ends the winter “Ducati World Premiere”, with the presentation of the ninth novelty for the Borgo Panigale factory: the update of the Panigale V4 SP, a model that appeared last year , based on the V4S 2021 and which, for this new version, recovers the traditional numbering of the first desmoquattro Superbike, which followed the suffix “SP”, still engraved in the memory of enthusiasts today.

The recipe, successful both from a technical and commercial point of view – V4SPs sold out almost immediately – has been reproduced practically identically on the SP2, with the stated ambition of creating the most efficient model for track driving while remaining accessible to everyone, especially for those who are not professional drivers. And so, a mixture of components from V4S, V4R and Superleggera designed to simplify the lives of those who do not have to comply with racing regulations but know how to appreciate the performance benefits of certain technical refinements and electronic solutions.

 

 

The Panigale V4 SP2 shares some of the mechanical, chassis and electronic components with the Ducati Panigale V4S 2022 : 4° Desmosedici Stradale V90 engine with desmodromic distribution, counter-rotating shaft and displacement of 1 cc including an evolution of the exhaust system to gain 103 hp, it therefore develops 1,5 horsepower in total at 215,5 rpm , and stretch with more verve and breath, with two more horses until the limiter cuts at 13 rpm. The torque settles at its maximum value at 000 mkg at 14 rpm. Naturally, the Akrapovič titanium system with high silencers can also be adopted on the SP500, saving 12,6 hp and reaching 9 hp, with a weight reduction of 500 kg for a dry value of 2 kg.

 

 

The electronics have been updated with new torque curves adapted to each gear ratio and four different power modes, which also includes the dashboard with the new race display which simplifies the adjustment and perception of the intervention of electronics, updated with the 2022 model.

In terms of the chassis we naturally find the Ohlins NPX 25/30 pressurized fork at the front managed by the Smart EC 2.0 semi-active system. In addition, the height of the swingarm pivot has been modified, which prevents the rear suspension from sagging when opening the throttle, all to make the Panigale V4S even more efficient when exiting corners.

 

 

The Panigale V4 SP2 is characterized by the special “Winter Test” livery, in which the matte black of the fairings is combined with the matte carbon finish of the rims and fenders, contrasting with the bright red accents and the shine of the exposed brushed aluminum . The dual profile fins feature the Italian flag which also appears on the official Panigale V4 R SBK. The lower part of the fairing is distinguished by the presence of the Ducati Corse logo at the level of the new hot air extractors and by a red detail bearing the name of the motorcycle, also present on the black dual-material saddle.

To further improve the track performance and dynamic qualities of the Panigale V4, the SP2 version is equipped with 5-spoke carbon rims, 1,4 kg lighter than the forged aluminum rims of the Panigale V4S. The carbon rims guarantee a significant reduction in inertia (-26% at the front, -46% at the rear) for the benefit of agility, lightness in changes of direction and greater agility in curve. The Panigale V4 SP2 is also equipped with exclusive Brembo Stylema R front brake calipers, which guarantee high stopping power.

 

 

The V4S P2 comes standard with machined solid aluminum mirror removal caps, a license plate holder removal kit and a carbon clutch cover.

The front brake lever is equipped with the remote adjuster which can be operated with the left hand. The brake and clutch levers are unloaded with slots to avoid loading from aerodynamic pressure.

 

 

The Ducati Panigale V4SP2 is available in single-seater configuration in the “Winter Test” livery from March 2022 in Ducati dealerships at a price starting at €39.
