The third opus of the “Ducati World Premiere” series, which presents online and until mid-November the models of the 2022 range from the Bologna factory, is called “Rule All Mountains” and presents the Multistrada V4, the latest version. sportiest of all time with its 17-inch rims, at the cutting edge of technology and racing spirit. It will be available from December in dealerships, at a price of €28.
Defined as the sportiest Multistrada of all time, the new V4 Pikes Peak evolves according to the asphalt giving life to a technologically advanced crossover with a competitive spirit, designed for motorcyclists who love to roll around curves and hairpin bends but also finding the apex between the curbs of a circuit.
The design takes shape from the classic elements of the Multistrada V4 family combined with the aspects that characterize and identify the Pikes Peak version, namely the 17-inch front wheel and the single-sided swingarm. The strong competition orientation of the motorcycle is underlined by the special “Pikes Peak” livery inspired by the colors and graphics of the Desmosedici GP21, with the number plates drawn on both sides of the tank which accentuate the link with the world of racing. But the racing temperament is also manifested by the numerous carbon fiber parts, the Akrapovic approved silencer in titanium and carbon, the Ohlins fork, the two-tone saddle which features the V4 logo and, finally, by the applied Ducati Corse logo on the front mudguard.
The Pikes Peak chassis has been modified compared to the original version of the Multistrada, and developed around the 17-inch front wheel to guarantee the rider greater precision and responsiveness. Marchesini forged aluminum rims equip the beauty, and allow a weight saving of 2,7 kg compared to the Multistrada V4 S. The Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 suspensions make their entry for the first time in the Multistrada range and are equipped with a so-called “event based” system, the same as that fitted to the Panigale V4 S and Streetfighter V4 S, capable of self-regulating according to the driver's driving style.
The aluminum monocoque frame has been revised to obtain a different inclination of the steering column. The braking system of the new Pikes Peak is based, at the front, on two 330 mm diameter discs and Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers as is the case for the Multistrada V4 S, but to which are added brake pads. the Panigale V4. The driving position of the Pikes Peak is also profoundly different from that of the Multistrada V4. The footrests are higher and further back, and the handlebars are lower and narrower with less curvature, all for an even sportier driving feel, but still making room for comfort. With all this equipment, this Pikes Peak edition is almost 4 kg lighter than the V4S version.
Obviously, the powerful V4 Granturismo engine equips the Multistrada Pikes Peak. This engine delivers 170 hp at 10 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm at 125 rpm. This engine was created specifically to power the Multistrada V8 family motorcycles, light and compact weighing only 750 kg and with high maintenance intervals: the valve clearance check is set every 4 km.
For the first time, on a Multistrada V4, Race mode is introduced among the driving modes, designed for the track, but not only, allowing more efficient driving in terms of gear changes in the upper part of the rev counter. Finally, the quickshifter also benefits from a strategy dedicated to very aggressive downshifts, as well as the implementation of an even more direct relationship between the handle and the power delivered by the engine.
Finally, the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak can count on the advanced and sophisticated electronics package of the Multistrada V4 S, which includes as standard the standard radar technology at the front and rear which allows the functionality of adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection.
The new Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak will be available from December in a single version, “Radar”, which offers front and rear radars as standard. Price from €28.990. In addition, on all models in the Multistrada family, Ducati offers the exclusive “4Ever Multistrada” warranty, valid for four years with unlimited mileage.
