Honda's goal is to achieve carbon neutrality through electric and other initiatives. The date set for achieving carbon neutrality is 2040. To do this, Honda wants to accelerate the process of electrification of vehicles as well as reduce CO2 emissions produced by internal combustion engines.

But perhaps the most important date on the Honda calendar is 2050. During this year, the Japanese company aims to achieve carbon neutrality for all its products and business activities.

 

 

What's new is that Honda plans to launch 10 or more electric motorcycles worldwide by 2025 and is targeting 3,5 million units per year (or 15% of the total) in 2030.

As the “world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer,” Honda aims to “continue to lead the industry in this era of carbon neutrality.” Last Monday, in Tokyo, a press conference was held regarding the initiative directions of the motorcycle division, which were presented by Kohei Takeuchi (Director, Executive Vice President and Executive Representative) and Yoshishige Nomura (General Manager).

That said, Honda explained “that it will continue to develop internal combustion engines while still accelerating on electrification, the main axis of its environmental strategies, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality of all its motorcycle products by 2040 and therefore to continue to be the industry leader on the subject of the environment. »

 

 

Among the initiatives of the Japanese company, in addition to electricity, emphasis is also placed on the development of models “powered by neutral fuels such as gasoline and ethanol blends. »

In addition to the flex-fuel model (E100) introduced in Brazil, Honda plans to launch flex-fuel models (E20) in early 2023 and flex-fuel models in India, one of its main motorcycle markets (E100 ) in 2025, that is to say a mixture of gasoline and ethanol available in different proportions, ranging from 100% gasoline to 100% ethanol.

 

 

To meet the demand for electric vehicles, Honda offers the Honda e:Business Bike model series, accelerating its global launch. These are two-wheeled electric vehicles for professional use. In addition to supplying the Honda e:Business Bike to Japan Post and Vietnam Post Corporation for mail delivery, Honda is conducting joint trials with Thailand Post Company Limited3 and plans to begin production and sales of the Benly model and in Thailand here the end of this month.

For private use, Honda plans to launch two electric commuter models between 2024 and 2025 between Asia, Europe and Japan. Coinciding with these plans, in light of continued technological advancements and market conditions, Honda will explore other power options in addition to interchangeable batteries.

 

 

Honda is committed to developing electrified motorcycle models, alongside commuter ones. Based on the EV MOTO platform under development, Honda plans to launch three major models in Japan, the United States and Europe between 2024 and 2025.
