At Honda, we decided to revamp its Africa Twin, also known as the CRF1000. And for good reason since it will now be recognized under the name CRF1100L. A development which admits an inflation of the cylinder capacity. Here are the first photos of the Tokyo trail…

The Africa Twin increases in displacement and it is the new vehicle certification documents published in Australia which tell the story. The site Motorcycle.com can confirm that the Honda Africa Twin 2020 will have a 1084 cc engine, and will be offered in standard and Adventure versions. According to documents, the 1084cc engine produces 101 ch at 7500 rpm, while the previous 998cc engine gave 94 ch.

The certification documents also give us a glimpse of what the latest will look like. Africa Twin et Africa Twin Adventure. The documents include two shots of both models, but unfortunately only in black and white in a low resolution. However, they are enough to reveal a redesigned front end, as well as a new frame.

La CRF1100L retains similar styling to the CRF1000L. The design of the dual headlights remains, but it is now more integrated into the fairing. L'Africa Twin The current one has air intakes on either side of the headlights, but those of the new model are much smaller and lower, housed inside the fairing. The windshield appears smaller than that of the previous model, although the version Adventure offers a larger screen.

From the outside, the 1084cc engine looks similar to the current engine, but the exhaust system looks different, which should help the Africa Twin comply with Euro 5 restrictions. Other visual changes include new handguards .

Like current adventure sports,Africa Africa 2020 has a larger fuel tank than the standard model. The rear rack/passenger handle also seems much larger than that used in today's adventure sports. The photo doesn't show crash bars, which are standard on the 2019 Adventure Sports, but it appears there is auxiliary lighting below the main headlight.

This new opus is hoped for during the Tokyo Motor Show from the end of October at the earliest, or more likely, EICMA of Milan in November.
