At Indian, there are not only customs and Uncle Sam's brand is pursuing an FTR range born from the dirt track flavor to turn into an American-style roadster. A concept that Harley-Davdson had initiated with his XR 1200 certainly very nice but whose success was more than relative. This FTR therefore continues the idea and in 2021, it becomes more beautiful and also more accessible…

The sports roadster of the Star-Spangled Banner is technically renewed, and the Indian FTR-1200 2021 is improving to be even more efficient. All its versions, base, S and Carbon, feature an engine Euro 5 and some modifications in its cycle part.

The most notable is that the front rim of theIndian FTR 1200 2021 becomes a “more conventional 17, abandoning the current 19”. The tires are 100% asphalt, super Metzeler Sportec are now standard instead of Dunlop Flat Track. The FTR 1200 chassis receives new geometries and fully adjustable suspensions which, with the addition of the new front rim, improve handling according to Indian.

With these changes, in addition, the saddle is now 36 mm lower. This makes it easier to get up, and the ProTaper tube handlebar is 40mm narrower.

The management of the 1cc twin-cylinder engine is also improved for its 123hp, with a smoother and more predictable throttle response, and single-cylinder deactivation is added when the bike is idling, for less heat emitted and consumption.

There are other minor changes ranging from the radiator cap, exhausts and trim, which make it a more European, attractive and efficient FTR. The radial Brembo brake calipers are maintained in all three versions, full LED lighting remains on the program.

The Indian FTR 1200 offers something for everyone

In the basic version also available for the A2 license there is no wind screen and the instrumentation is analog. In the 1200 S the instrumentation is a 4,3” TFT color and touch screen, with connectivity via Bluetooth, it has a double Akrapovic exhaust, two-tone paint and integrates all the electronics: cornering ABS, tilt-sensitive traction control, as three power modes.

Finally, in the most exclusive version, Carbon, we find an inverted fork and an Öhlins mono-shock absorber, an Akrapovic exhaust with black silencers, carbon side covers, fenders and a fuel cap and an exclusive decoration.

Le FTR Rally with 18 and 19 inch spoked wheels, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR mixed tires, with 50 mm higher ProTaper tube handlebars, analog instrumentation and an A2 license version is also in the range. No on-sale date or price has been announced.
