The subject has not been taboo for a while. Harley-Davidson has already deflowered it, demonstrating that it is not that simple to deal with. Thus, India, the continent-sized country, is a thriving market for motorized two-wheelers. We must be there or risk missing the contingent of emerging countries and resolving to extinction in the long term. Our latitudes are no longer sufficient for a manufacturer, even if it is an American icon with large and gleaming engines in its range. He too must get in tune by dealing with machines adapted to these new and juicy countries. Or make small engines for low-cost machines. Indian, like his compatriot from Milwaukee, decided to get started…

Indian in India, it seems to make sense, phonetically speaking. But it is on the contrary a revolution for the brand which knows the stakes by observing the difficulties encountered by the name just as big as its own: Harley-Davidson. So Indian decided to pull out all the stops to succeed. So, Indian could strengthen its presence on Indian soil by opening its first production factory there. The idea is to launch new models of volume and reduced prices on the market.

The Harley-Davidson lesson

While the intentions of Harley-Davidson concerning the Indian market seem to be those of a decline, its rival Indian Motorcycles seems to want to do the opposite, by opening a factory and increasing its sales thanks to new models with reduced capacity.

Growing after the relaunch by Polaris, Indian could perhaps succeed where Harley-Davidson has, in almost 10 years of attempts, unfortunately failed. The Milwaukee company thus seemed, at least until recently, to want to abandon the Indian market, initially considered an Eldorado, but which later turned out to be the one with the lowest number of sales ever. According to InSella.it, Indian could choose to go further and inaugurate the first motorcycle production factory. The brand should therefore avoid making the mistake of Harley-Davidson and therefore devote itself to the production of low-priced models… And only intended for the targeted market.
