RC 390

At KTM there is no plethora of faired machines with bracelet handlebars whose vocation is to arouse an invigorating feeling of riding a beast of the circuits. You have to go see the RC family for that, and resolve to have the choice between a 125 and a 390. Precisely, it is this top of the range among the small displacements which will be rejuvenated by the Austrians. The new generation is starting to appear on the horizon…

La KTMRC390 is physically the only motorcycle which could remind us that the Austrian trigram is also engaged in Grand Prix. It is on its way and since its beginnings, we cannot say that it has had any significant updates. A situation which should change in the coming months. Snapshots of a RC 390 groomed began circulating the internet last year and now it has been seen without any camouflage, leading to speculation that an official launch is imminent.

It seems from this photo that the new RC 390 will have cosmetic changes. However, the fascia doesn't look that different from the outgoing model. The new RC 390 also features the side exhaust. The rear, on the other hand, seems slightly redesigned.

Spy photos that circulated earlier revealed that the RC 390 will use the same LED headlights as the Duke 390 and Adventure 390. LED headlights are all the rage these days and the updated RC 390 will mark the departure of headlights projector of the outgoing model. The front fascia also receives a redesigned wind screen and a wider fairing. It looks more aerodynamic than before and offers better wind protection to the rider, compared to the outgoing model. The face gives a subtle nod to the KTM RC8.

The new KTM RC 390 arrives while waiting for a 490 version

Another notable addition will be the TFT screen. Until now, the KTM RC 390 had to make do with the same round LCD screen as when it debuted. With the proposed TFT screen, it will be better equipped to face the competition. The outgoing model is renowned for its aggressive, track-focused riding position, but spy photos reveal that the rider ergonomics on the updated RC 390 will be slightly more forgiving than the current model. She seems straighter and less focused. The rear subframe looks new, as do the new panels and taillight.

With a modernized style, new features and much more efficient braking equipment, the RC 390 intends to make the most of its single-cylinder engine. 44 ch which does not change, despite the standards Euro5. But don't despair: according to the site motoroids a KTM 490 range will arrive in 2022 and it will include up to five motorcycles. We are waiting for the RC490.
