For several months we have known that KTM will offer, in the near future, a range of machines powered by a 490 cm3 twin cylinder, a strategy which will allow the Austrian to have a very complete range with the added bonus of new SM T and SM A. There is orange in the air…

It is not as a replacement but as a complement to the 390 (single-cylinder) that the next 490 (twin-cylinder) range will arrive in the KTM catalog, this is what this document states which seems to have “leaked” from the Austrian.
A “leak” which however seems somewhat planned, since the next models are presented blurred here. In short, KTM will be present in all segments from 125 to 1290 cm3, we won't complain. Roadsters and sports cars will therefore be on the menu for the new 490 range, which should shake up the hierarchy of this segment currently occupied by the Japanese giants: Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki.
What is also interesting in this screenshot is the return of historical models like the SM T and SM R, which are currently absent from the catalog. Catalog which will continue to offer the SMC R and Enduro R. The strategy is clear: the omnipresence of the brand! To be continued…
