Three-cylinder engine and racing motorcycle aesthetics from the 70s: the Magni Italia 01/01 is the tribute that the Italian company wanted to dedicate to Arturo, the unforgettable founder and former technician of MV Agusta, who died in December 2015.

When it comes to motorcycle brands based in the Lombardy region of Italy, the MV Agusta brand immediately comes to mind. However, a brand even less known to the general public exists in this beautiful boot-shaped region of the country: Magni Motorcycles, created by Arturo Magni.

His motorcycles have always stood out for their class, their elegance and a certain charm linked to their style. Arturo Magni, former director of the MV Agusta Racing department and later founder of the eponymous motorcycle brand, died five years ago after creating authentic masterpieces on two wheels. His passion and attention to detail of this genius of motorcycle technology are revived today with the Italia 01/01 model, the motorcycle with which Magni Moto wanted to honor its creator.

The history of the Magni brand, whose reins are now in the hands of his son Giovanni, dates back to 1977, when after the departure of MV Agusta from the Continental Circus, Arturo decided to create his own brand. But before this magnificent adventure, this great name in motorcycling was part of the Gilera and Cagiva teams, and won no less than 75 world titles with MV Agusta (37 crowns for the brand and 38 for the pilots, who were none other as Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read). And it is precisely from this glorious era that the superb Italia 01/01 is inspired, a red jewel which completely evokes the three-cylinder motorcycles of the time.

The link with its legendary track record is not only in the style, these lines which make this motorcycle a sort of “replica” of the legendary three-cylinder MV. The common thread – it should be said – which connects the Italia 01/01 to the 500 of Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read is also found at the level of the engine, which is the same 800 cc as that which equips the MV Agusta Brutale, F3 and Superveloce. Installed in the tubular steel frame, the three-in-line is left visible by the half-fairing, a stylistic signature that Arturo liked to leave on many of his creations to allow the observer to admire the mechanics.

Inimitable styling and an engine that combines power and aesthetic beauty are just the main components of a package that is cared for down to the smallest detail. Brembo's signature braking system consists of 320mm floating discs paired with four-piston calipers at the front, while at the rear there is a single 230mm disc with a single two-piston caliper. The quad exhausts in megaphone style, but also the JoNich Wheels spoked rims adapted for use with tubeless tires, look simply magnificent. A superb tribute!
