The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello platform is at the origin of this concept imagined by designer Oberdan Bezzi: a roadster reminiscent of the 70s but which hides a modern engine and refined components.

The new Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello is the motorcycle that brought great innovations to the Eagle-based company: not only the liquid-cooled 90° transverse Compact Block V engine with rotated cylinders compared to traditional Guzzis, but also a highly efficient engine installed in a chassis that the new engine made possible thanks to its compactness in the longitudinal direction and the precise positioning of the output of the final drive shaft.

Oberdan Bezzi recently released his V10 Concept, a roadster variant of the V100 Mandello, on which he begins by removing the front fascia of the sport-tourer. He then replaces the original headlight cluster with a single round headlight. To maintain the V10 Concept's neo-retro aesthetic, a new round speedometer replaces the V100's TFT dashboard.

The designer combines this nostalgic front end with a vintage-inspired gas tank with cutouts at the knees. The V100 Mandello's side fairings survive almost entirely intact, but Oberdan Bezzi re-sculpts the rear bow to align with the classic V10 silhouette. A retro rear fender only amplifies this profile, and similar measures are employed by ditching the Mandello's wheels for a pair of wire-spoked wheels. It even simplifies the can end to streamline the exhaust system.

In addition to changing the cylinder cover colors, the liquid-cooled, DOHC, eight-valve, 1 cc engine comes unchanged to the V042 Concept. In a silver, black and red livery, the concept is based on a vintage racing design. The red stripes, the classic Moto Guzzi logo and the tank emblem all support the neo-retro motif. A special V10 graphic on the side panel just adds icing on the cake. Moto Guzzi may be speeding towards its second centenary, but Oberdan Bezzi wants to make sure the brand's retro roadster roots aren't forgotten.
