You could be the lucky owner of the unique “Piro” Replica R1 with which Yamaha paid tribute to Fabrizio Pirovano at Estoril, the track on which the Italian took his 10th and final victory in 1993. The bike is now available auctioned to the highest bidder, with proceeds from the sale going to charity.

At the final round of the FIM Superbike World Championship in Estoril, former Yamaha WorldSBK rider Alessandro Gramigni took the special 'Piro' R1 replica for a lap of honor, in memory of Pirovano's last WorldSBK victory with Yamaha last visited the Portuguese circuit in 1993. Fabrizio's former partner, Silvia, and her two daughters, Michela and Francesca, were also present as guests of Yamaha and joined Gramigni on the grid departure before the tribute.

“Fabrizio Pirovano was a rider, but more than that, a person who left indelible and special memories in the WorldSBK and Yamaha families”, said Andrea Dosoli, Road Racing Director of Yamaha Motor Europe.

Originally from Biassono in the Lombardy region of Italy, Fabrizio Pirovano racked up numerous podiums in the early years of WorldSBK and finished second in the 1988 championship with Yamaha. In 1990, the Italian became vice-champion again with five victories, including two at home on the Monza circuit. He repeated this double on the same track two years later, which finally earned him the title of “King of Monza”.

“Returning to Estoril 27 years after Fabrizio’s last WorldSBK victory with Yamaha was a unique opportunity for all of us to remember him. It was a special celebration, shared with many of Fabrizio's friends and family, confirming how much he was loved. All this, during the most successful race weekend for Yamaha in recent years, gave us the feeling that the “King of Monza” was there at our side. »



Based on the 1 Yamaha R2020, and sporting the famous white, pink and blue colors of Pirovano's Yamaha YZF 750 SP #5, the special "Piro" R1 replica is a completely unique motorcycle created by Yamaha Motor Europe. It is now available for auction and will be sold to the highest bidder.

The auction will run until Sunday November 1st at 12:00 CET and the winner will be able to decide whether they want the bike delivered in racing version, exactly as it was for the Estoril victory lap, or as a fully road legal version with Piro Replica bodywork, Akrapovič racing exhaust and wheels fitted with Pirelli slicks supplied in a separate kit.
