When BMW presented the M 1000 RR in September 2020, the Bavarian brand offered its customers standard equipment close to the versions entered in the Superbike World Championship, a machine very geared towards track riders. Based on the S 1000 RR platform, the power increased to 212 horsepower and the weight dropped to less than 192 kg, new carbon fiber wheels, high-end brakes and aerodynamic wings were adopted .

Kar Lee, the soul of the Kardesign Koncepts studio, transferred the same inspiration to the roadster: a large part of the bodywork that adorns the 2021 S 1000R has been preserved, notably the lower tip, the side panels and the rear, but a A touch of carbon fiber was added to the fuel tank and the headlight and front fascia were modified, aesthetically more current and smaller than those of the production version.

Besides the cosmetic updates, Kardesign Koncepts also adopts the carbon fiber wheels from the M 1000 RR and the premium M braking system. However, Kar Lee retains the front axial master cylinder, which would adversely affect the performance of the premium braking system. On the other hand, fins are also making their appearance, which are now legion on superbikes.

On the other hand, there is no mention of interventions to increase the power of the engine because it is simply a study, however fascinating, and not a motorcycle intended to enter production. If BMW ever decided to build an M 1000 RR, the entire project would be handled in-house.
