As a long-time supporter of the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC), Christophe Guyot spoke during the demonstration organized by it to protest against the current ban on practicing inter-files.
As involved in the competition as in the training of young people, the boss of GMT 94 was therefore ideally suited to give his point of view to the thousands of bikers gathered on Avenue Foch in Paris this Saturday February 20, 2021.
Christophe Guyot : " Hello everyone ! Among all the structures that support this movement, even if I am not at all a spokesperson today, there is also the French motorcycling federation which also strongly condemns this measure which would consist of prohibiting us from riding between the lines.
Of course there are two-wheel drivers, not to say bikers, some two-wheel drivers who use this facility in sometimes dangerous ways and who will scare some motorists and sometimes bikers. We know it ! But instead of getting into training, into pedagogy, into teaching, we are once again in the most total repression! It's the worst thing we can imagine today, to ban this, because it's what saves us first and foremost. This is part of our security. Me, I'm competitive: you know that a motorcycle brakes much less hard than a car. We may not all know that. At Magny-Cours, we are at 260 in the straight with a Superbike and slick tires, and we will brake at 200 meters for the best. In Formula 1, there are 300 of us in the same place and we are going to brake between 80 and 100 meters. It's incomparable! A car has a lot more rubber surface on the ground, so asking a motorcyclist to ride in the bumper of a car is dangerous for the motorcyclist! This should be learned from the driving test! It’s incredible: you have to do a post-license course to learn how to do it! And not only should we not ban it, not only should we stop telling ourselves “yes but we let you do it”, but we must legalize it because it is part of our security!
I work with CRS for road safety issues, but these CRS are not there to prohibit young people: they come to allow them, they come to explain to them how we can use a two-wheeler in safety and respecting the people around them. And these CRS, they will never prohibit driving between the lines!
All this to say that we are experiencing some pretty incredible things. Remember that in 1932, in “Brave New World,” Aldous Huxley wrote that the perfect dictatorships would be those that resembled a democracy, those in which slaves would love their servitude. And if we are here today, it is because we are going to refuse that: we cannot accept entering into this system, and on top of that, not understanding anything.
There are now a lot of so-called green cities, and it's incredible that these cities, little by little, are asking bikers to pay for parking and no longer even allow them to ride between cars and relieve traffic congestion. How can you be green and achieve things like that: it’s incredible! »
