For some time now, we've been hearing about Triumph's collaboration with Indian motorcycle manufacturer Baja Auto. We received our first look at what the two had been up to in February 2022. The roadster's simple, clean design, backed by an all-new single-cylinder engine, will no doubt be a hit in the premium entry-level sector . Although the displacement is not disclosed at the moment, rumors suggest that it is between 200 and 250 cc.

Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles announced a deal in 2020, and speculation about their upcoming motorcycle lineup has been growing since then. According to recent rumors, the Bajaj-Triumph cooperation will launch its first motorcycle sometime in 2023. The Indo-UK partnership will result in models for the Indian and global markets, and will undoubtedly strike a chord in the fast-growing premium entry level, a category now well filled by two-wheelers from KTM, BMW and the four major Japanese manufacturers.

The Bajaj-Triumph range is likely to have engine sizes ranging from 200cc to 250cc, with a focus on high volume sales. The first motorcycle, which could be a roadster or scrambler, could debut at EICMA in Milan, Italy, in 2022. Test prototypes of the roadster and scrambler shared design elements with the Bonneville and Scrambler from Triumph, but in smaller proportions and with a single cylinder rather than a twin. The motorcycles produced by this collaboration will be manufactured at a new factory in Chakan, near Pune, using Bajaj's local production expertise.

This would help aggressively position the motorcycles and achieve economies of scale, which means lower prices, translating into higher sales volumes up front. At present, however, it is unclear what the intentions are for these motorcycles and their true displacement, but both models could target the Indian market as well as the rest of the Southeast Asian market, given consumers' predilection for purchasing luxury items in recent years.
