technical pass

The Gallic village's resistance to the European directive imposing technical inspections on two motorized wheels has come to an end. The National Official Journal published this Wednesday a decree establishing a “technical inspection of two- or three-wheel motor vehicles”, from January 1, 2023. “Motor quadricycles” are also concerned, specifies the text. .

The weapons were returned and placed before a Europe who demanded from our green country that the two motorized wheels have their technical pass to continue rolling. 2022 was wanted as the deadline and it will be for 2023. The French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) was on the front line against this measure, considering it useless, “ the causes of accidents linked to vehicles being extremely rare according to studies carried out ". " France is in an impasse, because its attempt to escape this technical control comes up against the fact that the EU would impose penalties on it. underlined the organization in a press release in June. Demonstrations were also organized a few weeks ago against technical inspection.

There will therefore be no penalty since France makes amends. Concretely, vehicles registered before 1st January 2016 must carry out their first inspection in 2023. Those registered between 2016 and the end of 2020 must pass their inspection in 2024, then 2025 for those registered in 2021 and 2026 for those registered in 2022. This check must be carried out, at the latest, within four months following the anniversary date of their first release into circulation, within the limit of December 31 of the planned year. ».

The pass or technical inspection in detail

In detail, from 2023, “ two- or three-wheeled motorized vehicles and motorized quadricycles » must be subject to a technical inspection. This must occur regularly: first, “ within six months preceding the expiration of a period of four years from the date of their first putting into circulation ". Then the check must be repeated “ every two years ».

For collector vehicles, the check must be carried out every “ five years, with the exception of cases of transfer ". Then the control must take place “ before any transfer occurring beyond the four-year period ", but the " vehicles which have undergone a technical inspection in the six months preceding the date of request for the establishment of the new registration certificate » are however exempted.
