It was feared and the cancellation of the Intermot in Cologne was already a bad omen. But the Coronavirus has done its work so well that the major motorcycle show that is the EICMA in Milan is also falling by the wayside in this year 2020. To present their new models and vintages, manufacturers will have to think about new ways…

Autumn will be very sad this year. There will in fact be no Motorcycle Show to look forward to. Cologne fell into the water and now it's the turn of Milan to ignore it. The official press release states: “ the 78 edition of the International Bicycle and Motorcycle Show, scheduled for November 3 to 8 in the Fiera Milano pavilions in Rho, has been postponed to 2021 ».

The announcement came through a note published by EICMA Spa, the company controlled by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Motorcycles and Motorcycle Accessories), in which the CEO Paul Magri pointed out that " the decision was made with and for the entire supply chain.” Magri explains: “the international value and leadership of our exhibition event pushed us not to bet on the evolution of the health situation linked to the Covid-19 emergency and, above all, to listen and protect the entire two-wheel industry which, with our partners, continues to see EICMA as a winning model ».

« The evolution of the market and the economic and social challenges that the period of closure has imposed on our global sector also force us to take responsibility and act on a large scale in the interest of exhibitors and our visitors, reporting with a solid convergence of intention the 2020 edition ».

A cancellation decided with all stakeholders

The event, which attracts hundreds of thousands of fans and which has established itself over the years as one of the most important events in the Lombard capital for attractiveness, interest and visibility, is therefore postponed THE November 9 to 14, 2021, still in the Milan-Rho Fair district.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of EICMA Peter Meda also pointed out that “ the 2021 edition will have great symbolic value and we hope that it will help fans and the entire two-wheel chain to forget this difficult and exceptional situation. We intend to continue protecting not only the global importance of our exhibition event, but also to further strengthen the strong link with the territory and with the institutions that consider EICMA a current and essential appointment not only for the sector ».
