It will not be an R version of the 790 but indeed a new Duke that KTM serves us in this R version. The Austrian unveils a more powerful roadster but also lighter, promising 89 kW or 121 horsepower for a net weight of 166 kilos.

A 790 Duke which drives the point home, the new version of the Duke finally cubes 890 cm3 to appear in R version. A meaner version but also lighter, which nevertheless continues to keep the design that we know.
121 horsepower for 166 kilos dry compared to the 169 kilos and 105 horsepower of the 790, the balance tilts furiously for this new R version which is taking advantage of 2020 to also gain in equipment. As usual at KTM, the R specification is accompanied by a high-end braking system from Brembo (320mm front discs with Stylema 4-piston monobloc radial-mount calipers) supported by a two-channel Bosch 9.1 MP ABS system (ABS in curves and Supermoto mode, both deactivable) while WP is once again in charge of the suspensions (43mm Apex inverted fork), adjustable in all directions, that goes without saying.

What KTM says : " In the mid-displacement motorcycle segment, KTM has increased the power available with the new KTM 890 Duke R. Forgoing some of the brilliant capabilities of its younger sibling – the KTM 790 Duke – on daily commutes, the KTM 890 Duke R is a sportier and more efficient naked designed for extreme riding. The new engine (twin-cylinder) offers more power and torque, the ergonomics are more race-oriented, the brakes are more powerful and the WP APEX suspension is fully adjustable. The KTM 890 Duke R is ideal for the rider looking for an extreme experience or more thrills and handling compared to a larger capacity model. »
