The confinements due to the Covid-19 epidemic also affect the final end-of-year balance of the UFIP (Union Française des Industries Pétrolières). Over the entire year 2020, French consumption of road fuels fell by 15% compared to 2019: -13,7% for gasoline and -15,4% for diesel.
According to the latest figures published by the CPDP (Professional Petroleum Committee), over the whole of 2020, deliveries of road fuels to the French market stood at 42,555 million cubic meters, down 15%. compared to 2019. Specifically, deliveries of unleaded premium fuels are down 13,7% and those of diesel fuels are down 15,4%.
For the month of December 2020, deliveries of road fuels to the French market fell to 3,838 million cubic meters, a decrease of 10,2% compared to December 2019. Over this month, deliveries of unleaded premium fuels were down 12,8% and those of diesel down 9,4%.
“If we compare the monthly road fuel consumption for the two years 2019 and 2020, we see a certain recovery as soon as the restrictions are lifted, but without these returning to their previous level. Furthermore, the increase in the share of diesel fuel undoubtedly results from the maintenance of logistics transport activity during confinements, while private trips were reduced. » commented Olivier Gantois, president of the UFIP.
