In recent years, women have established themselves in various motorcycle disciplines. Ana Carrasco became the first circuit world champion when she won the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship in 2018 aboard a Kawasaki Ninja 400. In the off-road world, Laia Sanz is a renaissance woman rally and trial scenes.

Over the past 20 years, she has won 40 championships and raced for prestigious brands such as Beta, Honda, KTM and Gas Gas. Outside of competitions, women have also made progress in the motorized two-wheeler sector, with women representing 19% of the motorcyclist population in 2018. Now, the Moto Club dedicated to women, The Furious Bikers, wants to open more doors for them in the stunt community and last weekend organized a course reserved for women to generate more interest.

From wheelies to stoppies, drifts to burns, daredevils will learn various tricks of the trade. Organized on the La Ferté Gaucher circuit in Île-de-France on September 5, the organizers welcomed 16 trainees for a day of adrenaline-filled stunts. In partnership with the Moto Club Féminin de France and Le Mécanique Show, The Furious Bikers hope the course will generate more interest among the motorcycle community.

The all-female category follows in the wake of successful French stuntwoman Sarah Lezito. Widely considered the best stunt performer, Sarah Lezito performed stunts for the character Black Widow in Marvel's 2015 blockbuster "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Participants will need a lot of practice and time to reach the level of this professional but it is encouraging to see that all 16 event slots have been booked. Of course, this is just one more step towards improving the representation of women in motorcycling. Not everyone can be Ana Carrasco, Sarah Lezito or Laia Sanz, but we can all help grow female attendance in the years to come.
