Are you going to Austria this summer on a motorbike? The Austrian Motor Vehicle Act has been amended to prohibit a whole bunch of behaviors, and it has just been implemented. Thus, the Austrian government is cracking down on wheelies, stoppies and other motorcycle stunts. Fines can go up to €10 and the motorcycle of the offender caught in the act could be impounded for three days.

The Austrian Motor Vehicle Act has been amended to ban motorcycle stunts such as wheelies, stoppies and donuts. “Non-situational use of the motor vehicle in which there is no contact between the road surface and all wheels at any time,” is also banned, according to a warning issued by the British Motorcyclists' Federation. This also concerns any noisy engine, in addition to roads already banned for motorcyclists in this same country.

We are also talking about fairly severe sanctions. Fines start at €300 and can go up to €10. If that's not enough, if the police who arrested someone believe that person is likely to reoffend, their motor vehicle – car or motorcycle – can be impounded for up to 000 hours.

If you're expecting these rules to only apply to public roads, think again. Apparently, this also applies to private parking lots and other closed circuit areas where one might reasonably suspect that one could practice motorcycle stunt riding in peace. For now, if you want to practice your wheelies and stoppies, it's best not to try it in Austria.
