These are of course rumors, but the Japanese site Webike is completely convinced of this. Honda is expected to release a new version of its flagship super sports car late next year. Already during the season, Iker Lecuona had cast doubt, when he declared that his impression was that Honda was working on a new model of the Honda CBR1000-RR-R.

The CBR1000RR-R is in fact the maximum hyper sporting expression of the number one brand in the world, which in Superbike has not won the title since 2007 with James Toseland. This is also the only title won with the CBR and the 1000 in-line four-cylinder engine.

The Fireblade is a series that began in 1992 with the 900RR and last evolved in 2020, when the first RR-R arrived alongside the SP version. A little over a year ago, at EICMA 2021, it was the turn of an update of the RR-R 2022 which coincided with the launch of the special 30th anniversary series created on an SP base and produced in limited numbers.

We thus learn that Honda is working on an in-depth renewal of the CBR1000RR-R for 2024, and this could be presented in a perspective of less than a year, and this could even mean the last change of the complete model.

Japanese site Webike is not alone in thinking a new edition of the CBR1000RR-R is in development for 2024, saying it could be revealed at the Japan Mobility Show (the former Tokyo Motor Show) in October 2023 or at EICMA the following month.

The rumors do not come alone, but are accompanied by some possible renderings of what the new version of the motorcycle could look like. In principle, the changes do not seem too significant at first glance, and would be based on an improvement of the engine, which will have to comply with the new Euro5+ standard, but it seems that its power will not be revised downwards.

Other speculations on the CBR are that Honda would seek a significant weight reduction on the bike, such as a possible change of the fuel tank under the saddle and in one piece, or the complete change of the concept of the bike, going from a monocoque type frame with a double aluminum beam. It should also have new aerodynamics with larger surface area fins.
