After a two-year hiatus, the Tourist Trophy is back on the Isle of Man, and it will be full of surprises. There will be television coverage for ten days of the event, upon payment of a subscription of less than €20. The next edition of the TT will be the first after the shutdown due to the pandemic and will see numerous innovations, particularly regulatory ones.

Indeed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tourist Trophy experienced its first two-year break since the Second World War. But to celebrate, the organizers have planned a few surprises for us, and not the least: the TT which takes place on the Isle of Man will be broadcast live for the first time in its 115-year history, which represents no less 40 hours of live racing.

The 2022 Isle of Man TT will therefore be broadcast live and uninterrupted for all 10 days. The decision was taken by organizers and is part of a series of organizational changes aimed at giving a boost to the event.

The presence of television requires enormous effort to ensure that the entire 37,5 miles of the race (or approximately 60 km) is covered by cameras. Full details of the Isle of Man TT live TV coverage have been revealed, and the series has teamed up with Vimeo to create its OTT platform called TT+, and it will be available by April this year. The good news is that this platform is free.

The broadcast will be available via the TT + Live Pass for a one-time subscription of £14,99 (17,99 euros). The package is optimized for TVs and smart devices, with up to 40 hours of live coverage – both qualifying and race week – scheduled for the entire event. It will also be possible to have exclusive access to interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

Production will be handled by Greenlight Television – a production company specializing in motorsport events – with the promise of being able to follow the racing action in picturesque and unusual locations as opposed to the more traditional ones shown so far. So there will be 20 live action cameras traveling to different locations during the event, as well as aerial shots from two helicopters.

The appointment is therefore made from May 28 to June 11, not only to enjoy the show after 2 years of forced break, but it will also be the last season of John McGuinness, the legendary Honda driver who will be 50 by the time the 2022 season ends.
