After an absence in 2020, and an edition behind closed doors in 2021, the Sunday Ride Classic regained its splendor this weekend on the Circuit Paul Ricard with a more than successful 13th edition. With the numerous races, demonstrations and parades, the host of champions of yesteryear and today and the motorcycle show, the motorcycling public was delighted to rediscover one of its favorite events.

The Sunday Ride Classic and the Circuit Paul Ricard are a story that has lasted 13 years, and even more, when the concentrations of vintage motorcycles took place at the entrance to the circuit. Created and organized by the enthusiast Jean-Pierre Bonato, the “SRC” has become an unmissable event on the Var route calendar, attracting spectators in large numbers.

Because the objective of the SRC is to revive the older generation and discover the whole history of motorcycling for the younger ones, the event brought together not only vintage machines, but also the great champions of the pass. This is how a major exhibition brought together the 32 French Grand Prix motorcycles that have raced since the 60s to the present day. European collectors from the Spirit of Speed association have made it possible to retrace 50 years of Grand Prix racing on the track. A true living museum for the pleasure of the eyes.

The particularity of this family event accessible to all is to offer a motorcycle show and races of old and modern machines. This weekend during competitions and parades, Grand Prix motorcycles from the 70s and 2s took to the track: the star sports productions of the 000s, the most legendary Ducatis and current sports cars with the Pro Superbikes motorcycles. -Twin, or 90 motorcycles in total.

The organizers of the SRC can also congratulate themselves on being the French motorcycle event which brings together the champions of the past and the new generation of MotoGP. The illustrious Giacomo Agostini, who will celebrate his 80th birthday in a few days, was once again the star of the weekend: everyone crowded into the stands to see the most successful motorcycle rider in history (15 world titles) get on his MV Agusta.

After Johann Zarco in 2016 and 2017 then Fabio Quartararo in 2018, the Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira, winner of 4 MotoGP Grand Prix, was present this Sunday to meet his fans. One of the stars of MotoGP took the time to do a signing session for the hundreds of supporters who had come.

The popularity of the event, 20 people over the weekend, once again demonstrates that motorcycles still have their place in the hearts of the Circuit Paul Ricard public. After the Sunday Ride Classic, bikers will meet at Le Castellet in September with the Bol d'Or and the final of the French Superbike Championship.
