Save the date, June 11 & 12, 2022,a SUNDAY RIDE CLASSIC will celebrate the 80th birthday of the greatest motorcycle rider of all time at the Circuit Paul Ricard: Giacomo Agostini
The SUNDAY RIDE CLASSIC changes its date to 2022 (June 11/12) to be the event closest to the birthday of Giacomo Agostini, born June 16, 1942
As he has been the permanent guest of all the SRC since 2010, AGO chose the SRC to celebrate his birthday in France on a circuit where he won so many victories. AGO is at home at Paul Ricard!
AGO is the legendary rider of motorcycle sport. Record holder for the number of titles and the number of victories, multiple winner at Paul Ricard (Grand Prix 500 and 200 Miles), he was World Champion on MV and on Yamaha. He still holds an impressive number of unbeaten records.
AWARDS:
15 World titles
- World champion 350cm3 : 1968 to 1973 on MV Agusta, 1974 on Yamaha (7 titles).
- World champion 500 cm3: 1966 to 1972 on MV Agusta, 1975 on Yamaha (8 titles, historic record).
- 311 international victories including 123 Grand Prix (68 in 500 cm3, 54 in 350 cm3and 1 in 750 cm3).
- 18 Italian championship titles.
- Holder of the record for the number of fastest laps in a race, with 117 fastest laps (several categories combined).
- Winner of 10 Tourist Trophy
- He is the only one to have won all the grand prizes in two categories in the same year (in 1968, 350 cm3and 500cm3).
- He was five times champion in two categories in the same year.
Mino's birthday will be the subject of many activities during the Sunday Ride Classic:
- Multiple direct meeting sessions with the public,
- Dedications,
- Parade MV,
- Yamaha TZ Parade,
- Birthday meal with public and invited pilots,
AGO brought so many memories to the spectators at Paul Ricard that a whole generation will come back to salute their idol.
At the time, it was this rider who took motorcycle sport out of its “specialized” box and with his aura attracted non-specialized media.
For the record, in Italy there have even been photo novels (a sort of mini serial series in magazines) with AGOSTINI in the spotlight!
AGO was the first motorcycle rider whose name emerged from the motorcycling microcosm: the first STAR of motorcycling
