The Ducati rider set the best time in the very last free practice session this Saturday morning in Estoril, ahead of a surprising Garrett Gerloff and the Kawasaki of Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes.

The day began with a very final Superbike free practice session on the Estoril circuit, in Portugal, allowing competitors to perfect their settings in preparation for the Superpole which will be held from 12:10 p.m.

30 minutes of riding which took place again under a bright sun, and these are the Kawasakis of Jonathan Rhea andalex lowes who immediately stood out by riding together and taking the first two places at the start of the session.

The two teammates have long been the only ones to evolve in the 1'36 window, replaying the same score as in Aragon last Saturday when they waited until the second day to reveal their game and move up a gear in the rankings.

Gerloff plays spoilsport

Garrett Gerloff, however, initially came to thwart this hierarchy, before Scott Redding ne signs the best reference of the session with a thunderous 1'36.389, the best lap completed so far this weekend.

His teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi also showed himself to his advantage, obtaining fifth place at the end of these 30 minutes, ahead of another Ducati, that of Chaz Davies, making clear progress after a delicate first day yesterday.

 

 

Razgatlioglu withdrawn

We then find in seventh place Tom Sykes, before Andrea Locatelli et Tito Rabat, the latter more and more comfortable for what is only his second Superbike event. Best absolute time yesterday, Toprak Razgatlioglu for its part disappointed during this FP3 with only the 10th fastest time.

The Turk is ahead in the ranking Eugene Laverty et Jonas Folger, while we find the Frenchman in 13th position Lucas Mahias, who got the better of the two HondasAlvaro Bautista and Leon Haslam, in this order. Michael van der Mark is 16th, while Christophe Ponsson is in 20th place.
