Magnificent sprint victory for Manuel Gonzalez

The air temperature was 25° and the ground temperature was 48° (source Dorna) when the lights went out and the best start was taken by Marc Garcia ahead of Victor Steeman, Manuel Gonzalez, Galang Hendra Pratama, Ana Carrasco and Andy Verdoïa. Hugo de Cancellis was ninth and Enzo de la Vega fourteenth. Two separate accidents (including a high side by Mateo Pedeneau, with Deroue hitting his motorcycle on the ground) caused the fall of several riders, hence the event being stopped with a red flag. Fortunately no pilot was seriously injured.

With only one machine per rider, it took a long time to get the bikes back to the pits and repaired. The distance was reduced to 7 laps. With 35 drivers on the grid, it promised a great sprint!

During the second start, several drivers were missing for the reconnaissance lap, including Mateo Pedeneau and Scott Deroue. The Dutchman arrived from the back of the grid. With 7 laps on the program, it seemed difficult. The fastest to start was Marc Garcia ahead of Victor Steeman, Ana Carrasco, Manuel Gonzalez and Galang Hendra Pratama. Andy Verdoïa was seventh just ahead of Hugo de Cancellis. Borja Sanchez crashed in Turn 2.

Steeman took the lead ahead of Gonzalez, Garcia, Carrasco, Verdoïa and de Cancellis. Enzo de la Vega was sixteenth. Carrasco took the lead ahead of Garcia, Steeman, Gonzalez and de Cancellis. Verdoïa fell without gravity alone in Turn 13 and restarted last.

Gonzalez took the lead, with Ana Carrasco second who set the best race time in 1'53.275. Carrasco regained command ahead of Garcia, Gonzalez and Steeman. De Cancellis was seventh and de la Vega fifteenth.

With 2 laps to go, 4 drivers were pitted against each other: the 3 Spaniards Carrasco, Garcia and Gonzalez and 1 Dutchman Steeman. Galang Hendra Pratama joined them on the last lap.

Manuel Gonzalez won by 0.01 ahead of Marc Garcia, followed by Ana Carrasco, Galang Hendra Pratama and Victor Steeman. Hugo de Cancellis finished eighth and Enzo de la Vega fifteenth.

This is the third victory of the year for Gonzalez, coached by Fabien Foret.
