After racing in the Grand Prix, Jules Cluzel and Lucas Mahias are taking part this weekend in the third round of the Supersport World Championship on the MotorLand Aragon circuit. Kenan Sofuoglu is back from injury and the competition will take on a completely different look.
It was this Friday morning that we had to achieve one of the ten best times in order to qualify directly for Superpole 2, because it rained during the second free practice session. Bad luck, Jules had achieved the twelfth time and Lucas the thirteenth.
In the first session, Cluzel and Mahias occupied the top two positions with 20 minutes remaining. But under the checkered flag, they were preceded in the standings by PJ Jacobsen (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), Kyle Smith (Gemar Team Lorini), Hikari Okubo (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda), Sheridan Morais (Kallio Racing), Christian Gamarino (Bardahl Evan Bros. Honda Racing), Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), Niki Tuuli (Kallio Racing), Gino Rea (Team Kawasaki Go Eleven), Alessandro Zaccone (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) and Robin Mulhauser (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda).
It was certainly a little disappointing, but there is still Superpole 1 to qualify, then the race which will take place late Sunday morning.
According to Simon Buckmaster, team manager of the CIA Landlord Insurance Honda team, “ Jules was there throughout the first session, and with 13 minutes to go we made a set-up change without changing tires to confirm it. He went out and didn't see the sign to go back in and put a new tire on, so we were trapped and he was twelfth fastest. It's not ideal, but he has the pace to win. We need to make Jules the fastest in SP1. »
In Superstock 1000, Florian Marino finished this Friday in third position and Jérémy Guarnoni in tenth place.
