The Swiss driver finished the first day at the top of the Supersport category, ahead of his great rival Steven Odendaal.

The first free practice session for the Supersport set the tone this morning : The Homeric duel between Dominique Aegerter and Steven Odendaal which has been going on since the start of the season has resumed with a vengeance between the two men, and a new skirmish occurred this afternoon on the Assen circuit!

The two leaders of the championship were quick to reach the top of the timesheet, exchanging first place on several occasions before Aegerter scored a big blow by setting a time of 1'37.274. A great response provided by the Helvetian, who is riding this weekend on a superb Yamaha sporting a magnificent garish yellow livery, after his lost battle in the morning against his South African rival.

The session placed under red flag

If, at the front, we very quickly understood that first place was going to be played out between Aegerter and Odendaal, behind, the situation evolved considerably over the minutes. Third place was notably the subject of a tough battle between Randy Krummenacher and Manuel Gonzalez, before Shogo Kawasaki suffered a heavy fall in turn 15 five minutes from time, forcing the marshals to wave the flag red and thus cause the session to be interrupted. The Japanese driver was taken to the circuit's medical center to undergo a battery of examinations.

After a cessation of hostilities of around ten minutes, the fight finally resumed on the track, Gonzalez taking the advantage over Krummenacher, the latter even being beaten at the finish by the German Philipp Öttl. In sixth place, we find Jules Cluzel, the Frenchman who is ahead of Can Öncü and Niki Tuuli. The top 10 is completed by Hannes Soomer and Kevin Manfredi.
