Federico Caricasulo signed the first chronometric benchmark in Supersport, ahead of Philipp Öttl and Raffaele de Rosa.

It was only a few minutes after the Superbike riders had taken their plasters that their Supersport counterparts took their turn on the track. With mild weather, the conditions were ideal for getting to grips with the very hilly Portuguese track.

Jules cluzel, author of the Superpole last weekend at Motorland Aragón, but unhappy during the two races contested in Spain, immediately showed his fangs, before being dispossessed of first place by Philipp Ottl et Steven Odendaal and gradually slide down the hierarchy to end the session in 12th place.

The South African, author of a double during the opening round of the championship, once again showed himself to his advantage, finishing the session in fourth place, while Federico Caricasulo had set the best time in 1′.41.192, and that Raffaele de Rosa had set the third time behind Öttl.

Involved in a collision with Cluzel in Aragón during Race 1 before being diagnosed with a concussion preventing him from starting Race 2, Niki Tuuli experienced a delicate session, marked by a fall and a 19th place under the checkered flag.

The Supersport drivers now meet at 17 p.m. for the second free practice session at Estoril.
