After finishing in second position in the Buriram race behind Randy Krummenacher last Sunday, Lucas Mahias and two members of his team were hit in Thailand by another car on the road, fortunately without any serious injuries.

The two vehicles were badly damaged by a particularly violent impact, according to Gpone.com. The accident was spectacular, but according to Mahias without serious consequences.

“Luckily I'm fine, I don't have any serious problems, reassures Lucas. I just feel a little pain in my head, but that's normal, considering the scale of the accident, which was really impressive. »

Driving on the road is sometimes as worrying as driving on the track, even for professionals: “ In fact, I'm very scared, admits Lucas, but you know… that’s life.

“In a car accident like this, it’s fortunate not to have suffered any fractures or major damage.

“The good thing is that I don't have any major trauma and even my mechanics are pretty good.

“It’s a bad story, sure, but it ended well.

“Now I have to rest, because I am already focused on the next race to win in Spain in Aragon, immediately starting to train to get back in shape. »

No detailed information was provided by Yamaha, Dorna or the Buriram organizers. We only know that Lucas and his technicians were able to take the plane and returned home.

See you on April 15 at the Motorland circuit in Aragon for the third round of the Supersport World Championship.
