Slightly behind in the morning during the first free practice session, the Swiss driver recovered well in the afternoon, obtaining the best time ahead of Federico Caricasulo and Andy Verdoïa.

The FP2 in the Supersport category closed the first day of racing at Magny-Cours, as part of the seventh round of the season. Dominique Aegerter was the fastest on this occasion, having been unable to do better than eighth place this morning.

Federico Caricasulo, best time in FP1, was once again in the mix, just like Jules Cluzel with whom he had scrapped, but had to, this time, lose to the championship leader, who took the lead. first place for almost the entire session.

Leading the general standings with almost the equivalent of two victories ahead (47 points) over Steven Odendaal, the Helvetian is thus in a good position to capitalize again this weekend, while his South African opponent trampled this afternoon and failed to do better than 16th.

Behind Aegerter and Caricasulo, we witnessed a real group shot from the French, Andy VerdoÏa, already flamboyant in the morning (he had held the lead during part of FP1), in fact confirmed his good dispositions, completing the session in third place.

Odendaal in difficulty

Cluzel finished in fourth place, just ahead of his teammate Valentin Debise. Niki Tuuli, winner here in 2017, took sixth position, ahead of Can Öncü and Luca Bernardi. The German Philipp Öttl and Raffaele de Rosa complete the top 10, ahead of Manuel Gonzalez who experienced a certain recovery in form after a delicate first free practice session in the morning, during which he finished in 15th place. .

Kevin Manfredi took 12th place, ahead of Randy Krummenacher, Stéphane Froissard and Michel Fabrizio. We must therefore go down to 16th place to find Odendaal, visibly in great difficulty in the Nièvre and who is currently unable to properly adjust his Yamaha YZF R6. However, the latter will have to find the martingale by tomorrow and considerably improve his times if he does not want to see Aegerter once again slip away a little further from the championship...
