The Spanish driver was the fastest in the first free practice session in the Supersport category, ahead of the Italians Filippo Fuligni and Federico Caricasulo.

Just a few moments after the Superbike riders, it was the turn of the Supersport category entrants to make their debut on the Marco Simoncelli circuit in Misano. The opportunity, once again, for a great reunion with the Italian route, absent from the calendar in 2020 due to reshuffling of the calendar linked to the health crisis.

Steven Odendaal, winner of the first three races of the season, was the first to go to the top of the timesheet, before seeing Dominique Aegerter take the lead a few moments later. The Swiss rider is definitely on a good run, having won his first success in the category two weeks ago, before securing a second place last week during the MotoE Catalan Grand Prix, and it will be necessary to continue Definitely keep an eye on him this weekend.

Fuligni surprises everyone

But the strong impression of these FP1s has so far been made by Filippo Fuligni. The Italian driver, undoubtedly stimulated by playing on home soil, was at the top of the timesheet for a long time, despite a fall at the very end of the session. A position narrowly acquired ahead of his compatriot Federico Caricasulo by only four thousandths. The GMT94 Yamaha rider got the better of his teammate Jules cluzel, who finishes a notch behind him.

First place finally went to Manuel Gonzalez, who topped all these beautiful people at the post by setting a best time in 1'38.789. A ranking which still remains very relative, the leading quartet holding together in a pocket handkerchief, in a tenth precisely.

Behind them, Hannes Soomer finished the session in fifth place, ahead of Randy Krummenacher, last winner here in 2019 during the last edition, Aegerter, Odendaal and Philipp Öttl. The top 10 is completed by Luca Bernardi.
